Woke up in the morning and the furnace was not working. I called Modern Sheet Metal and told them about my problem. With it being so cold, I did not think I would get service for perhaps a day. They told me they would have someone over as soon as they could get someone freed up. The serviceman was at my door within 45 minutes. I was very happy with the service and the price. Excellent service!!! My 19 year old furnace went out at night. I called Modern Sheet Metal before 7 am and they had someone at my house by 9am. The old furnace had a 20 year warranty so they would have repaired it for free. I opted for a new furnace with a big discount from the old furnace. They patched the old furnace to get me going and installed the new furnace 2 days later. Great people!!!

My furnace stopping working. When I contacted Modern they offered to come right away (at night) or the next morning. Someone was at my house by 7 am and in minutes showed me what was wrong.it was still under warranty so they made sure to put in the exact replacement instead of a different one so it would be covered. My furnace quite working during the recent cold snap. I had maintenance scheduled for the following month for the furnace and the a/c. The technician repaired the furnace and did the maintenance on the furnace. He did the maintenance on the a/c in the rain and found a wire that the mice had chewed. I am very happy to have heat again and have the a/c maintained and working for when the hot weather comes.

I recently switched to Modern for my HVAC service. Had my AC tune up about 2 weeks ago Thought I was done with the heat but with the cold return this weekend, turned on my heat and was not working. Called at 7:45 Monday morning and was told they would be out today to take a look. Tech called me at 8:20 and said he would be here in 15min. Took about 20 min to fix it and had heat by about 9am. All under warranty 👍🏻 - Great customer service!!

Tony was great! He showed me how to spray out my AC unit and he thoroughly cleaned it, let me know about cleaning the condensation pump to help extend the life of it and keep it from getting build up- something we didn't know we were supposed to do, changed our air filter and even resealed up where the AC lines come in the house to make sure no pests get in. Couldn't ask for better service. He made sure everything was in perfect order for those hot summer months. Definitely recommend them!!

We had another vendor tell us that our carbon monoxide was a dangerously high levels and our furnace needed to be replaced ($9000 estimate). They actually shut off our furnace and claim that it was by law that they had to do this
We obviously needed a second opinion (Especially before having the family over for Thanksgiving) and called Modern Sheet Metal. Nick came out the same day within two hours and was very, very, very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Oh, and by the way, they didn’t even charge us for the service call although we agreed to pay them something. Nick arrived before his scheduled time, which worked well for us. He got right to it and went into the basement where my husband met him to discuss the zoning issues we were experiencing. Nick provided valuable ideas on how to fix the issue. He also changed our filters and cleaned out our unit—something my husband mentioned he hadn't seen other companies do.
After finishing the work, Nick took our payment and we discussed our reasons for leaving our previous service provider (due to a change in ownership and dissatisfaction with their service). Nick even recognized his own writing on the unit and informed us that we could have both the heat and AC checked in the future to save on service charges.

Fast, knowledgeable and informative. Had an issue with a water leak into the furnace. I contacted Modern Sheet Metal because my Carrier Infinity thermostat screen went black. They sent their technician Brad over to check out the problem, he removed the thermostat from the base and then snapped it back on and the thermostat screen started working again.
Modern Sheet Medal has always been great with sending a technician on the same day if I have a problem with my HVAC.
The best part is they didn’t even charge me for a service call

My furnace went out on the coldest day of the winter, so far (of course), and I called the company that had worked on it 2 months prior, and got no answer, with no option to leave a voice mail. That was super discouraging, so I took to a local Facebook group for recommendations. Modern Sheet Metal was mentioned several times, so I called. Not only did they answer, but the technician called me back almost immediately, and we figured out the best approach to fix my problem. Within 24 hours, I had heat, and for quite a bit less than the original servicer had quoted, for the motor that I knew would have to be replaced soon. I would HIGHLY recommend this company for any HVAC needs!

I've had problems with my humidity unit in my greenhouse for several years. A friend recommended Modern Sheet Metal, and when I called them, they came out already that afternoon. They were not only able to troubleshoot the problem quickly, and make a recommendation, but they were able to schedule me to do the work within a few days.

My furnace went out and I called another company to come and check on the problem. I was quoted $3600 to fix the problem even though it was under warranty. I got a second opinion from someone I trust and they suggested I reach out to Modern, so I gave them a call. Had a leak in our AC unit. The technician came right away to evaluate a possible leaking coil and give an estimate. Upon returning for the service call he determined the coil was fine and that something else was wrong, called for a second opinion and a major problem suddenly became a simple adjustment to leaking valves. So appreciate the second opinion. Extremely honest company, saved us considerable money. Will continue to have them service our furnace and AC unit. Highly recommend.

Since this is more of a specific instance for me I am not adding this as a bullet item. I used to have hot water heat, which was really nice, but the boiler needed to be upgraded, some of the lines needed to be removed and redone, and the registers all needed to be replaced due to multiple paint jobs on them. I had asked other companies to quote me all options for AC and heating, and they only quoted me the AC options and told me to leave the hot water heat. This is nothing against other companies, but I was looking for the best option for the money and had mentioned this. Jeff from Modern Sheet Metal Heating & Cooling provided me all of the options and he even discussed the different options with me, along with the pros and cons of each one. In the end he recommended the best option for the money would be the full furnace install, and I agreed.

Been using them for about 15 years. They are fantastic! Our first experience with them was as a second opinion on an 18-year-old furnace and AC system. The first opinion was is that both items needed to be replaced to the tune of 10K. Their tech found that a mouse had chewed through the AC wires outside and fixed it for about $50. Those units were still working great when we sold the house 3 years later. We’ve used them ever since.
They almost always get here the same day. Their service technicians are very professional and they get it right the first time - I’ve never had to call them back for the same issue. Their prices are very reasonable.

Every technicians we have had do maintenance (maybe 12 or so? Over 10 years) are professional, kind, extremely knowledgeable and respectful. It was a few years ago that we used modern sheet metal to replace our A coil. They were the most honest hvac company that we had come out for an estimate. Every other company wanted to replace our whole system which would have cost us thousands (and it was only a 6 year old system). Modern sheet metal came out and recommended only replacing the a coil first since it was most likely the problem. We saved thousands of dollars! Years later no problems, ac is still running great! I called them on a Tuesday as my 38 year old Carrier furnace started making squealing noise. A representative came out a few hours later and gave me a quote with 3 different furnaces suggested for my house. I chose the one and asked when they could install it. His reply was tomorrow. And Wednesday morning they showed up at 7:30 and had whole thing installed in about 4.5 hours. Installation looks very professional and clean. They even installed new wireless thermostat I purchased from them. When I got the bill a week later I was sceptical that there would be some extra charges for something but nope. The total was exactly as quoted even though they had a few unexpected issues and an electrical problem they had to have electrician come out and figure out. I am very pleased with the experience and would highly recommend them. Now I'm just hoping new furnace lasts another 38 years

I called for an estimate after another company that I had hired to do a yearly cleaning and inspection told me my furnace would need to be replaced soon. That company gave me an estimate on a new one that was around twice the amount of the price I received from Modern. The other company tried upselling me a unit that was more than what my house needed. So Modern installed within a couple of days and I was very happy with the new furnace at a good price. A year later I called to have an April Aire installed because the house is too dry in the winter. They did a great job with that as well and the price was much less than what I expected. They also showed me how to change the water panel myself instead of having them do it so I would save money on that. And I was told the furnace only needs to be cleaned and inspected every two years instead of every year. Their prices are fair and their service is awesome!
I talked to a neighbor who was having issues with their furnace and I recommended Modern Sheet Metal to them. He said he called and talked to someone who was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. The tech told him that they didn't have the part he needed and recommended another company that should have it. The neighbor had his problem fixed and told me he was very impressed with Modern and would be giving them all of his business in the future as well.

Can’t say enough good things about Modern Sheet Metal. Tech came yesterday to look at a/c issues coil was leaking and we needed an new a/c. The tech was upfront and honest and have two options to keep it going for time being or replace it. There was no pressure and he stated regardless of which way you go he would leave with it working. We decided to replace it, spoke with Jeff right away next morning and it was replaced within 24 hours. The installers were friendly and quick. They also serviced the furnace as well so one less thing we will have to worry about.

We recently had our furnace go out and It took us 5 different estimates to find these guys but I'm sure glad we did! Modern Sheet Metal was the only one to tell us that our furnace could be fixed for free because there was a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and they were also the only ones to show me how to reset our furnace to get it to run for a little bit to get a little heat in the house. Even though we could have gotten it fixed for free we decided to replace it because it was getting up there in age and Modern Sheet Metal had the best price by far. They were on site the next day and got our furnace replace in about 3 hours! Thank you for the great service, honesty and no nonsense estimate.

My furnace went out and of course it is in the winter. I had the pleasure of getting the owner Jeff out to my house, yes that’s the owner on call on a Sunday. Response was quick, install was fast and smooth. Prices are excellent but the service was beyond excellent. I would recommend them to anyone in the fox valley.

Could not recommend this company enough! Got out to me within a half hour of calling! Joshua was a fantastic technician! Knowledgeable, personable, and efficient! Diagnosed the problem with my furnace and fixed it right away. Reasonable prices for the job done and no $60 charge to get them to show up. Wow. Great company and service! Our furnace went out late on Christmas and I needed to call the after hours line. I thought with the Holiday weekend we'd be out of luck but to my (and my family's) very pleasant surprise Jeff came out to our home on short notice and had the heat working again in under an hour. I had a different company do maintenance on my boiler. He then told me I needed to replace the boiler due to him finding high carbon monoxide numbers. I then called another company who came out and was told I didn't need a new boiler and doubted the co numbers. I then called Modern Sheet Metal and Jeff came out to check and also said a new boiler was not needed. I was happy but I told him I was a bit concerned about the co and he told me they offer a "free" 2nd opinion.Tim came out about one hour later and ended up doing a lot of fixing and cleaning that looked like it hadn't been done. CO numbers were about 8. I am happy I don't need a new boiler and happy that there are some honest companies not just wanting to sell for the money.Thanks Jeff and Tim for your honesty and GREAT customer service. Much appreciated.

We've used Modern Sheet Metal for all of our HVAC needs since becoming homeowners in 2002. Modern has done all the service/routine maintenance on our furnace and AC units, as well as replacing units in our last few homes. We recently did some remodeling and it was easy to get a quote for the work (we reconfigured our master bathroom, closet and 1st floor laundry room), and then see the work completed right on schedule. Had another company come and look at my A/C. Charged me $89.99 just to come out and $200 to diagnose. And they still couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong. Called modern sheet metal and Jeff came out the next day. He had it fixed within an hour and didn’t even charge me. Jeff was awesome and very knowledgeable about my system. I couldn’t have asked for a more honest and professional company. I will definitely be calling them in the future if I have any issues. Thanks!

My wife and I can't say enough good about this company. They came as a word of mouth referral from a friend. My previous heating and AC guy was great but he was unable to put a furnace in my house for over a week when it went out in the dead of winter. I called them on Monday morning before work and they quoted a very fair price and had a new furnace in by early afternoon the same day. They then returned today to put the AC unit on(they allowed us to wait until spring to pay and install). They were on time, profession, and even a little entertaining. They seem to love their work and did a great job!

I noticed a smell from my furnace so I took the side panel off and noticed that the circuit board was starting to melt and turn black in one area. I called Modern Sheet Metal and they had someone over the next day. They were right on time and professional. They did a great job explaining everything and also did a tune up while they were here. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Tim just finish a major service on our furnace. We needed a new secondary heat exchanger or a new furnace. He recommended just replacing the exchanger which was a lot less money. Job was done in about an hour after receiving the new parts. Job well done. Thanks Tim.

I called late yesterday to see if someone could come out after 10 am today to fix my 22 year old air conditioner. Tim arrived shortly after ten and quickly fixed the problem. He also answered all of our questions and gave us information about what to expect in the future. I had to have a new HVAC system installed in my 1921 home. Modern Sheet Metal was a breeze to work with from quote to install. I would highly recommend. Hands down the best company we've ever worked with! They saved us this winter from the -50° freeze. They not only trouble-shot us through the weekend, they were at our door before 8am that Monday. By noon that day we were having a new furnace installed. I just converted from Oil heat to natural gas. Modern Sheet Metal installed my new furnace and removed the oil tank from my basement. Modern Sheet Metal did a full planning and installation of heating and cooling for us with new construction. Jeff and his team were extremely easy to work with and overall have done a very professional job with the installation and follow-up with additional details. With new construction, nothing seems to go 100% as planned but when I needed to have them at the house, they were there to help. We were (unplanned) self general contractors for our project. Jeff was always prompt to respond to questions or concerns I had with the process and also offer suggestions to overcome construction issues that we encountered.
We had MSM install 2 radiant systems fully zoned and a forced air heating and air conditioning. Jeff and I discussed several options for getting the "best system" for our needs and I believe that we have done exactly that. I probably challenged him a bit more than most but he was always open to suggestions and willing to answer my questions, regardless of what they were.
We have had a couple of challenges after the installation with minor equipment failures but MSM has stood behind their work 100%. No questions asked and also has been extremely prompt with repairs. I can tell that they value long term relationships with their customers and understand that the best way to succeed in business is to leave a trail of happy customers.
I strongly recommend using Jeff and his team at Modern Sheet Metal for whatever your project is. They care about getting it right and also stand behind their work and products in a way that is not always seen in the construction/contractor world today.

Such a trustworthy business and honestly I couldn’t be happier with their technicians! This summer we recently went through them for our A/C unit. They were quick and just wonderful. This winter we had a problem with our furnace and called a different company to come out (not realizing that Modern had emergency heat services). The other company came out and absolutely refused to fix our furnace and said it needed to be replaced. Granted this was 11:00pm and having a technician tell me they weren’t going to fix it because there was too much wrong was a horrible feeling especially with 4 kids sleeping upstairs. The other company called my husband he told them we had another company coming out to look at it and give us a quote, they then called me to see if they could get a different answer. This was a scare tactic. We didn’t want to go through anyone else but Modern for a new furnace if we needed it. I called at 7:00am and told the gentleman on the phone what happened and what was going on. He assured me that the tech would have some space heaters in the van if we needed them. He sent out a technician named Aaron. I explained what the other company had said and he said I am going to do some trouble shooting and see if I can fix it. Let me tell you he was able to fix it. He not only fixed it but was able to see where the problem had originated and fixed that too. Hands down honest people work for Modern and they work with you. Highly recommend Modern Heating and cooling / sheet metal. 👏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻
